At Terra, we approach every project with a positive, can-do attitude regardless of size or complexity. When a document is submitted for translation, there is an entire team that is involved in its successful execution – from the initial contact and receipt of the files to the final project delivery. You’ll have a dedicated project manager, who will carefully select the right linguists for your request. The linguistic team can include translators, editors, QA manager, and, when applicable, a desktop publishing specialist; all working to deliver your final translation.

YOUR TEAM

Project Manager

Project Manager

The project manager is responsible for overseeing the success of the entire project. They are the link between the linguists and our clients. They will:

  • Assess the content of the projects and the turnaround time
  • Strategically analyze each project with a focus to efficiently maximize budget
  • Assign the most appropriate translator, editor and QA manager to work on the project (taking into account the client, subject matter, format, and deadline).
  • Communicate the specific requirements of the project to the linguistic team
  • Set up the project through the requested translation tool
  • Manage translation assets like translation memories, termbases and reference materials
  • Track project status from start to finish
  • Handle any questions or concerns from the linguists involved in the project

Translator

At Terra Translations, translators are selected for their experience, their rating, and their subject matter expertise. Our translators translate using the client’s preferred computer-assisted translation tool software, comply with the translation memory and termbase, comply with locale suitability, and follow the general or specific style guide for all projects. They will:

  • Translate the source texts using the requested translation tool
  • Create glossaries with industry-specific terminology
  • Check reference materials provided by the client for more context
  • Write source queries when there’s ambiguity in the text
  • Implement any feedback from the client

Editor

Editor

The editor of the project does a through revision of the target text against the source text.

He or she is in charge of checking the translator’s work to correct any errors, omissions, inconsistencies, as well as making stylistic improvements of the text. The editor is responsible for making sure that the translation is clear, accurate, and complete. They will:

  • Improve the overall quality of the translation by focusing on word choice, consistent use of terminology and correct use of grammar and punctuation
  • Correct any typographical errors
  • Ensure the translation sounds natural in the target language
  • Check that the style, tone and meaning of the source is conveyed accurately

Quality Assurance Manager

The QA managers are the last step of our TEP process and are responsible for the final quality of the translation. All quality control is done in-house. QA managers will:

  • Proofread the project
  • Complete a first QA check with translation tool
  • Confirm that all glossaries, style guides, and special instructions were followed
  • Check for numerical issues
  • Do a third check of medication dosages and timing
  • Review the files in native file format and addresses formatting issues prior to delivery
  • Complete a second QA check with a second tool, Verifika or XBench.
  • Deliver the project to the Account Manager who sends it to the client.

Desktop Publishing Specialist

The DTP specialist will receive the translated files and will work on the layout to produce a final file which mirrors the formatting of the original final. They are in charge of editing graphics and charts, formatting translated files and producing documents that are ready to publish.

We specialise in:

  • InDesign
